Plus, the Remarkable Connection Between Football and Wine!
Host David Wilson has a great big soft spot in his heart for the winemakers of Bordeaux, France. He says it’s mostly because much of the wine-loving world just assumes that, with all the prestige attached to the Bordeaux label, you might expect it to be a stuffy place, steeped in pretentiousness. Well, not so fast! Bordeaux is actually an incredibly welcoming place where you can meet winemakers who have been carrying on centuries of family tradition. As for the wines, it’s just imperative for lovers of Bordeaux varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Franc and others to enjoy a full-immersion Bordeaux tasting experience, if for no other reason, to better understand the roots of our favorite wines and how they differ across the pond.
And so, it was off to the Washington D.C. area for the Tour de Bordeaux, an absolutely extraordinary event featuring wines from legendary Bordeaux producers who gathered at the lovely Fairmont Hotel in Georgetown. This event is just one of the topics you’ll hear about on this edition of Grape Encounters Radio.
Also on Episode 549 of Grape Encounters, learn about the growing connection between football and wine. How many players, coaches and team owners are taking their game from the gridiron to the vineyard? You’re likely to be very surprised. In fact, the number of players, coaches and owners who are tackling a second career in winemaking is staggering! (Metaphorically speaking, that is!)
Also, there’s another big game that takes place just after football’s finale. That’s right, Valentine’s Day is upon us, so we’ll share some important advice about how to avoid not making a romantic mistake on the day that is all about love. And remember, love means never having to say you’re sorry for choosing the wrong bottle for your big night!
